　　Following the crisis in Ukraine and Russia’s involvement in Syria, the world is closer to super power confrontation than at any time since the end of the Cold War. Now a committee of senior former British military and diplomatic figures comes together to war game a hypothetical ‘hot war’ in Eastern Europe, including the unthinkable - nuclear confrontation.
　　The War Room faces a scenario that has haunted western strategists since civil war broke out in Ukraine: potential Russian military involvement in the Baltic States of Latvia and Estonia. Like Ukraine these countries have sizable Russian speaking minorities, but unlike Ukraine they are members of NATO, whose founding treaty states that an attack on one ally is an attack on all of them. Because of this, western analysts regularly war game a situation where Russia seeks to exploit ethnic tensions in the Baltic and test the strength of the NATO Alliance.

Two young lovers, ROBERT, a catholic opera singer and RACHEL, a Jewish violin virtuoso, dream of one day performing together at legendary Carnegie Hall. When they're torn apart by the German invasion of Poland, Robert vows to find Rachel, no matter what the war may bring. His search leads him on a life-threatening journey through the heart of Nazi Germany, to a reckoning that Rachel may be lost to him forever.

　　This film is an extremely entertaining psychological thriller with Carrol Baker excellent as a rich American widow getting away from it all at a secluded Italian villa. Enter smart aleck down on his luck playboy, Lou Castel, who has some golddigging motives behind his slick hipster seduction techniques and has no qualms about how he gets what he wants. He encourages Baker's character's incipient alcoholism and dubious self-esteem, brings in his supposed 'sister' to help drag Baker even further into a maze of sick mind games, drug addiction and group sex, all culminating in a descent into near-madness and self-destructive depravity.
　　I won't give away anymore, suffice to say that the film delivers on its swinging sixties, Euro sleaze ambience and psychological suspense thriller credentials in spades. Director Umberto Lenzi's work has been, at best, uneven and he's churned out his share of crap. However, he made some quite good giallos and crime pictures in the sixties and seventies and this is one of them (other good films by Lenzi -- SPASMO, SEVEN BLOODSTAINED ORCHIDS, ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON, to name only a few).
　　Unfortunately this film is ofen confused with another okay but not-quite-as-good Lenzi film that was also released briefly here in America under the same PARANOIA title (but is more commonly known, especially on video, as A QUIET PLACE TO KILL).

　　Six unused scenes from WHERE LIES YOUR HIDDEN SMILE? One of the more priceless of the "bagatelles" in this collection features a lounging Jean-Marie Straub who gives a non-stop disquisition on liberty and filmmaking while Danièle Huillet busies herself with laundry, and their dog Melchior frisks in and out of frame.

　　影片根据史蒂芬·金的同名短片小说改编，以三幕倒叙的方式，讲述查尔斯·克兰兹的一生，以他39岁因脑瘤去世为开端，以他在闹鬼的房子里度过的童年时光为结尾。

　　交往10年之久的女友桐子（铃木京香 饰）举枪自杀，令广告导演合田（冢本晋也 饰）的世界发生巨大的震动。他偏执地认为女友死亡的秘密和手枪有关，于是固执地寻找其中缘由。某日，酩酊大醉的合田偶然遇见满身伤痕的不良少女千里（真野きりな 饰），但随后他便被千里的同伴后藤（村瀬貴洋 饰）等人打倒在地。
　　为了复仇，合田四处寻找枪支。适逢后藤团伙与另一不良少年组织龃龉，固执的合田也带着手枪卷入其中……
　　本片荣获1998年瑞典奇幻电影节评委会大奖和2001年横滨电影节最佳新人奖（真野きりな）。
